【研究で証明】頭皮マッサージはやはり薄毛ケアに有効だった！

抜け毛が気になってきたとき、多くの人が試すのが「頭皮マッサージ」でしょう。頭皮マッサージはお金もかからず、最も手軽にできる薄毛ケアのひとつといえます。ですがその効果については懐疑的な意見もあり、実際のところ薄毛対策に効果があるのかは分かっていませんでした。しかし、近年、頭皮マッサージの発毛への効果を示唆する研究結果が発表されたのです。本稿では、研究結果とそこからなぜ頭皮マッサージが発毛に有効といえるのかを解説していきます。具体的な頭皮マッサージの方法も紹介していますので、是非最後までご覧ください。

リーブ21が実施したアンケート調査（期間：2017年7月31日(月)～8月9日(水)対象：10代~60代以上の男女計4,800名）によれば、「薄毛の症状」が進んでいると回答した人は男性で41.0％、女性で25.5％に上りました。総務省統計局の人口推計から算出すると、日本国内で約4,270万人が薄毛に悩んでいることになります。

つまり約3人に1人が悩んでいる薄毛ですが

「なかなか改善されない」

「医療機関で治療するといいんだろうけど、お金も時間もない」

という方も、多いのではないでしょうか。今回はそんな薄毛に悩める人達に朗報です。
実は、「振動圧刺激が薄毛治療に効果がある」ことが近年の研究で判明したのです。

本題に入る前にまずは髪の毛がどのように作られるのか知っておきましょう。

発毛のメカニズム

 毛根の仕組み

髪の毛は、頭皮の奥にある「毛包」で作られます。毛包の根元には、「毛母細胞」と髪の発育を司る「毛乳頭細胞」があります。

毛乳頭細胞から指令を受けた毛母細胞は細胞分裂を繰り返し、徐々に角質化します。この毛母細胞が角質化したものが髪の毛です。

つまり、毛の発育には毛母細胞が重要になります。

ミノキシジルと非接触振動圧の毛髪再生に関する研究

ヘアメディカルグループは小川令教授および高田弘弥講師とともに、2012年から、細胞・分子レベルに着目した生物学研究領域「メカノバイオロジー」と毛髪再生の研究を実日本医科大学形成外科と共に開始しました。

その研究結果を元に、小川令教授は体内のあらゆる臓器、組織、細胞に物理的刺激が作用することに着目。毛髪再生にも物理的刺激を与えることで効果が期待ができると予想し、アンファーと共同で2017年からミノキシジルと非接触の振動圧刺激による相乗効果について研究をしていました。

研究のなかでヒトの毛乳頭細胞に超音波振動圧を与えたところ約1.3倍毛乳頭細胞が活性化したのです。この結果から振動圧刺激が、発毛促進につながる可能性が高いことが判明しました。

加えてミノキシジルを細胞に投与した場合も、振動刺激を与えたときと同じように1.3倍程度細胞が活性化することが確認されました。

ミノキシジルはもともと血管拡張剤として用いられていて、あるとき副作用により多毛の症状がでたことから発毛効果があるのではないかと考えられ、以後研究すすめられた薬剤です。発毛効果自体は証明されているものの、なぜ発毛につながるのか、そのメカニズムは未解明の部分が少なくありません。

現時点で判明している作用機序のひとつが、

  • 細胞の機能を維持維持する「カリウムチャネル」を開くことで毛組織血流を改善し発毛に繋がる

というものです。

カリウムチャネルとは

カリウムチャネルは細胞の維持に必要な通路

「カリウムチャネル」とは、身体のほぼ全ての細胞内にある、イオンチャネルと呼ばれるもののひとつです。カリウムを選択的に細胞内外に通過させ、細胞の維持を助ける役割を担っています。

簡単にいうと「細胞の維持に必要な通路」です。

研究で物理的刺激にもカリウムチャネルを開ける作用があることがわかった

今回の研究でミノキシジルだけでなく、物理的な刺激（非接触振動圧）にもカリウムチャネルを開ける作用があることがわかり、ミノキシジルと物理的な刺激の２つを組み合わせると、カリウムチャネルの開口がより促進・活性化されることが判明しました。

マウス実験では

  • 非接触振動圧により、剃毛マウスの発毛が促進される 
  • 毛乳頭細胞に非接触振動圧を加えると、発毛遺伝子（FGF7、WISP1）の発現が増幅される
  • ミノキシジルと振動圧を加えた部分の皮膚で発毛遺伝子の発現が亢進、徐々に周囲へも遺伝子発現が広がる　

との結果が実証されています。

この研究により、頭皮への刺激そのものが発毛に効果的であることが判明しました。クシで頭をトントンと叩く、世のオジサンたちの行為も実は理にかなっていたんですね。

物理的な刺激が発毛に効果的なのであれば、頭皮マッサージにも一定の効果が期待できると考えるのが自然です。

頭皮マッサージによる発毛効果には否定的な意見もあった

頭皮マッサージが発毛に与える影響については以前から専門家のなかでも見解が分かれていました。

効果があるとする根拠は

  • マッサージによる血行促進が、必要な栄養を毛乳頭細胞に届ける可能性がある

というものです。

けれども他方で

  • 血行促進が必ずしも発毛につながるとはいえない

とする意見もありました。

ビタミンEやカルシウム拮抗薬（降圧薬）にも血管拡張作用があるものの、発毛効果は確認されていないためです。

実験で頭皮マッサージの発毛効果の可能性が示された

しかしこの研究で振動圧刺激そのものが毛乳頭細胞に直接作用し、発毛につながる可能性が高いことが医学的に根拠づけられました。つまり頭皮マッサージも薄毛改善に効果がある可能性が高いことが証明されたということです。

 

なおヘアメディカルグループの川島眞総院長は、非接触で低周波振動圧を特定の部位に照射することができる非接触集束超音波装置を、臨床むけ 薄毛治療機器として2020年に導入すると発表しています。家庭用低周波振動圧刺激デバイスも2021年に発売される見通しで、現在開発が進められています。
